A warm welcome to the homepage of the International Oskar Strock and Eddie Rosner Society for Multimedia Culture and European Communication (I.G.M. e.V.)
We have made it our mission to initiate and organise projects and events that promote cultural diversity and understanding between peoples, and to be a point of contact in questions of socio-cultural development.
Our main focus is on a Europe-wide platform shaped by creativity and commitment. On this platform we develop cultural activities in project groups: lectures, concerts, seminars, workshops, music festivals, master classes, radio programmes and reading series.
Our organisation came into being as an interest group of creative self-initiatives that has been successfully active in the cultural landscape of Germany and Europe since the late 1990s. It is networked with numerous artists, writers, journalists, scholars, culturologists and public figures, and supports ideas and concepts of an interdisciplinary nature.
We are glad to have already realised many artistic and social projects. Under the society's wing or in cooperation with us there emerged, among others: the editorial team of the radio magazine "Akzent", the reading series EXilLIBRIS and Art-Salon, the festival "Gagarin Days", the film "In the Role of the Other" - prize-winner of the film festival FILMthuer 2013, the Eddie Rosner Jazz Festival and more. For almost 15 years many knew us above all as the organisation behind "Radio Akzent", whose first FM broadcast went on air as early as January 2000 (i.e. before our society's official registration), marking the birth of Russian-language radio in the state of Thuringia.
A remarkable activity has grown out of an initiative and interest group founded back in 1997/98, known today as the Oskar Strock & Eddie Rosner Heritage Society, which cultivates the culture of remembrance through musical projects such as The Oskar Strock & Eddie Rosner Orchestra, SPERLinG - "Swinging PartYsans/Eddie Rosner Legacy in Germany" and RuTKaSt - "Russian Tango/Kapelle Strock". It is about working to preserve the cultural heritage, the creative legacy and the traditions, about rediscovering, publicising and popularising the work of two legendary persecuted musicians and of the music related to them.
The Association of Russian-Speaking Authors of Germany and the authors' group "Zapad napered - KdW - Flip Side of the West" are also directly connected to us.
With great volunteer commitment the society has drafted new approaches, given impulses and gone down untrodden paths. In the future, too, we will keep working creatively for the promotion of a pan-European culture and keep designing projects with dedication.
This is a heartfelt invitation to musicians, writers, supporters and visitors to take part in our projects and to strengthen and support our network.
