The Oskar Strock & Eddie Rosner Orchestra:

From Swing to Tango

Oskar Strock (*1893 Latvia) and Eddie Rosner (*1910 Berlin) celebrated their first successes in the Berlin of the late Weimar Republic, soon to become the pioneering and
most important co-founders of the swing and tango traditions from Eastern Europe all the way to Japan and Finland. Nevertheless, dictatorial regimes very nearly succeeded in erasing the names of these two exceptional Jewish talents from cultural memory. Founded in 2021, »The Oskar Strock & Eddie Rosner Orchestra«® is the only ensemble worldwide that - through didactic events, workshops introducing audiences to this field, and other activities, on an exclusive mandate - brings the once ostracised music of Oskar and Eddie, declared dead and lost, together with works of their contemporaries, back to Germany, including their late work from the 1940s to the 1970s.
The compositions are painstakingly gathered and reconstructed, and new arrangements are added to the old ones that breathe the spirit of the two masters - not simply a "ghost orchestra", but an educational-cultural message and at the same time a breathtaking journey through time, full of surprises, insider tips, catchy tunes, jazz and Weltschmerz, energy and reflection, authenticity and freshness. Beyond that, it is a true feast for lovers of intense, substantial and refined ballroom music.
